Buying the app

The publisher sells nothing directly. Bokmo is downloaded from the App Store: the subscriptions and the one-time purchase are sold and billed there by Apple, under the App Store’s terms, which are set out on the terms of use page. Apple takes the payment, issues the receipt and applies the VAT or tax of the buyer’s country. This website sells nothing, receives no payment and sees no payment details.

Intellectual property

The Bokmo name, its icon, and the texts and illustrations of this website are protected. Any reproduction without permission is prohibited, except for short quotations with their source.

Apple, the Apple logo, Mac, macOS, iPhone, iPad, iPadOS, iCloud, Face ID, Touch ID, Apple Intelligence and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and regions. The other software names mentioned (Scrivener, Ulysses, Word, Final Draft…) belong to their respective owners and are mentioned only to indicate compatibility.

Credits

Bokmo relies on two linguistic resources released under open licenses, which the app downloads from their authors the first time it opens in French. Its Sources and licenses screen, in the app’s help, credits them and lets you save their files along with their notices.

Rhymes and syllables: Lexique 3.83

A lexical database of French, by Boris New, Christophe Pallier, Ronald Peereman, Sophie Dufour, Christian Lachaud and the contributors of lexique.org. Used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. Bokmo downloads the database and derives from it, on the device, an extract of 48,396 forms and six columns, under the same license.

Synonyms: myThes thesaurus 2.3

The French thesaurus (Dictionnaire des synonymes français) distributed with LibreOffice: Frédéric Labbé (design), Laurent Godard and Indesko (version 2), Dicollecte (versions 2.2 and 2.3), based on the myThes format by Kevin Hendricks. Updates: grammalecte.net. Used under the GNU LGPL 2.1 or later, unmodified.

Definitions: Wiktionnaire

The dictionary’s Wiktionnaire tab, in French, shows pages from the French Wiktionary, published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license: Bokmo displays them in their original page, without copying them. The Definition tab opens Apple’s dictionary.
